up and coming Beautician

Aleah has officially tried out her hair cutting skills.
She gave a few barbies, Nani and herself a haircut. I knew sooner or later it was bound to happen. Luckily it was a rather good job and she refrained from cutting off a ponytail.

Gave this barbie some layers.

Wow, going for a little more of an artistic look here.

There were 2 other barbies with a haircuts, but one was just the head, so we threw that one away, and the other, you can barely even tell.

Now, for Nani, she has some bangs. Sometimes they look funny, but for the most part she wears them pretty cute! It must be that squishy kissable face!

Not too bad eh?
I guess Aleah is for hire, any takers?
(btw, no pics of Aleah's haircut because you can really tell unless we separate the hair she did cute from the uncut hair)
Oh, and yes, both I and Matthew were home and so naive. Aleah and Nani will often get something set up, or get dressed, and not want us to see until they're all ready. I guess it was the same in this case too. Several times we were told by Aleah and Kanani,
"Don't look yet, don't come down stairs."
So we didn't.
We found out the barbies had their hair cut when we went to clean up the toys in the basement, but still didn't notice their hair was cut. It was until a little while later when we were eating dinner that I was looking at Aleah and noticed a few strands of hair look freshly cut.
So there you have it.

Thanksgiving 4: Movies and Santa

Saturday after Thanksgiving, we went downtown to a cookie shop and a bread shop, then we visited Santa and then went to a free movie. It was a good time with the kids.
If it's not obvious in the Santa pics, my kids are not yet willing to sit on his lap. I don't even think that we tried last year. I guess they like him more in theory.

Nani is hugging Daddy with her whole body trying to stay away from Santa.

This is Aleah gripping on, thinking, " No Mom, please No!"
We like to see if they'll sit on his lap, it's kind of funny. We don't make them.

Thanksgiving 3: Black Friday

YAY! Black Friday, it's just so much fun to join the masses! This year I was able to still go and I went with my BIL and SIL. It was good times. Matthew even joined in on the fun at about 7:30 after his parents came to watch the kids.
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for watching the kids and thanks Mike and Elena for taking me with you. And Babe, thanks for joining in on the fun!

Thanksgiving 2: The Turkey hunt

At Matthew's brother's house, they do a turkey and buffalo hunt each year before the Thanksgiving feast.
The kids colored turkeys and buffalo and put them on popsicle sticks and Uncle Mike puts them out in the yard. Uncle Mike also made these cool PVC pipe mini marshmallow blow guns. Then each kid gets a gun and a little baggie of mini marshmallows and then the hunt begins. I think the adults have more fun than the kids. We ended up chasing each other and shooting marshmallows at each other.
Good fun!
I should have taken more pics, but I was having too much fun playing!

Thanksgiving 1

The kids' table.

The grown ups' table.

The turkey.

The deviled eggs...and that guy eying them.
We went to Nebraska to Matthew's brother's home! It was a good time!
The food was great and the company even better! I love family!

fall skirts, for winter

A couple weeks ago I made these skirts. They were supposed to be for fall, but I guess winter will do. Aleah is also wearing a really cute shirt that has a bird that matches her skirt. I did a freezer paper stencil from the bird on her skirt. Sorry no pics. Neither one of them were in the mood for pics....are they ever?!
Regardless, they're still cute girlies!

Wicked!

The weekend before Thanksgiving, we went on a HOT date! We went to Wicked with our friends. It was a good company and a good time! The Wizard of Oz is so much better now! I love when we get to do things like that! If you get a chance, you gotta see it!

Girl's day

We had some fun times last Friday! We had a girls' day. We went to a movie, Planet 51, walked around the mall and then went to Jumpin' Joes Family fun Center.
Aleah liked the movie, Nani is still a little young to fully enjoy those. It was a good thing we got candy in popcorn!
And then the girls humored mommy and walked around the mall until Jumpin' Joes opened. They did a great job too!
And Jumpin' Joes, well, it's ghetto! It's one of those places that is waiting for the last light bulb to burn out and then they'll shut down. Regardless, the girls had fun. For about 2 hours they climbed around the mesh jungle gym that has slides and a ball pit.
It was a good day! I love my babies!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Not that creative

I have to say, all these projects/ideas are not my own. I don't want to take credit for these. I'm just a copycat. While I'm looking at blogs, if I see something I like or want to do, I bookmark it. I always feel like I'm the last to see these cool ideas because I see them on more than one of blog. So there you have it, the confession. Ha!

Last weeks crafts

Grandpa was here last week for a dental visit. Matthew passed. His dad survived, actually he better than survived. His dad said it was the best visit to the dentist he has ever had! What a superstar dentist!
While Grandpa was here he helped us with our holiday craft. We gotta have someone responsible to be in charge of the glue gun.

They're supposed to be wreaths, but Aleah decided to make hers a crown.

Another day we did pipe cleaner crafts. Daddy's cat was a big hit. We made flowers and a caterpillar too. We all loved it.

Magnet paper dolls

Step 1: Aleah cutting clothes and people out of magazines.

Step 2: Mommy sticks them to a sticky magnet sheet.
Step 3: Aleahs dresses a little person

Step 4: Nani dresses little people.

It's on a magnetic dry erase board so the the girls can draw on arms or legs, or whatever else they think a person might need. Lately they've just been tracing the clothes.

Having fun

We scored with 90% off halloween costumes! These were only $2.
Yes, They did pick them out themselves. Nani likes the bones and Aleah likes sparkles. The sparkles ended up all over the house and all over us.

Another one done!

It's done, 9 months later. Hey, I could have had a baby by the time I got around to doing this. Oh wait, my friend, whom this is for, did. How funny! Sometimes I make myself laugh!

Happy Birthday Great Grandma

Last week was Great Grandma Rios' birthday. On Friday we went to visit her in Manhattan, KS, after Matthew finished work. It was a really quick visit, but we were so happy to be able to make it. Aleah had started coughing the day before and it wasn't too bad. The next day it was a little more and by the time we got to Grandma's she had a fever. Aleah wasn't into to taking pictures that night so we don't have very many. Here are a few.
She had to look cute to go visit Great Grandma, so that morning I put a big green juicy apple on her shirt to match the buttons on her skirt. I love it!

She thinks she is so funny making her grumpy faces.

As you can see, Aleah isn't feeling very well.

These a some pics on the yummy dessert Matthew made. I don't remember what it's called, but it's Angel food cake, some chocolaty whip, cherries and a little chocolate syrup.

Great Grandma we love you and we were happy we were able to visit.
Happy birthday!
