MHR-Friday!!

There is no prompt for this Friday, it's a free forum. So I thought I'd share one of the quotes she shared.

When a husband and wife both want their partner to receive life’s best before they do, you have a marriage that’s going to exceed every wedding day dream. Their love not only lasts; it continually grows. — Gary Smalley

When I read this quote, I immediately thought of Matthew. This was one of the reasons I decided to marry him. From the day that I met him, he was genuinely interested in me, my life and my needs. When we started dating, he asked me everyday if there was something I needed or if there was something he could do for me. EVERYDAY. At first, I as surprised by it, then flattered, and then I realized he sincerely cared about my needs. Then one day, during one of those wonderful DTR's (define the relationship talk), he didn't express himself too well. Later, I come to find out that he didn't care if his heart got broken, all he wanted was for me to be happy and for me to get what I wanted. He was willing to sacrifice his own heart for the happiness of mine.

Throughout our marriage he has continued to do his best to make sure I receive "life's best", even before he does.

Matthew has taught me so much about love, through his actions, his patience and his example. I am grateful to have such a loving spouse who, unintentionally, teaches me so gently.

More projects

Some projects from the last 2 weeks.
I know I already posted this picture, but here it is again. I made Aleah a little skirt out of Fat Quarters. She asks to wear a skirt everyday, but she doesn't have enough skirts for that. So I thought I'd make her some cheap little play skirts. I think next time I'll get a pattern. I don't know why I try the whole trial and error thing. I mean don't you get enough of that when you do use a pattern?

Here's an apron from "A is for Apron" book. This book has cute patterns, if you're looking for some.

Here's another.

These make great birthday presents!

And now, on to more projects!

What do you do on a Friday night?

Uh, I'm blogging............. Wow, life has changed.
My husband fell asleep reading a bedtime story to Aleah and I just don't have the heart to wake him. So here I am and unless some of you post dated your post, apparently you have an extremely exciting Friday night too. Thanks for giving me something to do bloggin' peeps!

My Husband Rocks
Prompt/Theme for Friday, February 20, 2009 Share your favorite "married moment" from the past couple of weeks. Anything that was special, made you smile, or made you feel all "warm and fuzzy" :)

The first one that comes to mind is how he saved me last week when I was feeling miserable, but I guess I already shared that. Another one that is often expressed and always makes me "warm and fuzzy" is how he makes me feel like I can do anything. As sad as it may sound, until I met Matthew, I didn't realize the many talents, potential or intelligence I had. He has always encouraged me, had faith and believed I really could do anything that I wanted. He has also never shot me down when I think I have a great idea. With his soft words and patience, he helps me realize that at this time, not all my ideas and desires will work out, but that I will get a chance at them. He doesn't just believe in me, he supports my growth by allowing me time, helping with the girls and having a positive attitude. He has taught me that is okay to dream, to hope, to try and to graciously fail.

I love him so much for that. And he has truly helped me to blossom like a rose.

My Husband Rocks!!!

MHR and this past week

I missed the My Husband Rocks post because we were sick and I didn't want to miss the GREAT NEWS post. I guess I didn't totally miss it, My Husband Rock because he passed his huge-ole-ma-jugle test! Yay! I love you Matthew! And a Happy late Valentine's Day!
Here's a little of not much from this past week.

A lot of this at 1,2,3...in the morning this week. I can't remember how anyone survives a newborn.

Aleah after changing Kanani's diaper.
I know she's only 3 and a half, but she's a great helper and she wants to do those things. So I do my best to teach her and then let her do her thing.
(Believe it or not, Kanani sits more still for Aleah, than she does for me or Matthew)

One night Kanani was trying so hard to be like Mommy and Daddy by resting her feet on the coffee table while sitting on the couch. It wasn't too easy for her so we moved the table closer, and here you have it. A "I'm so proud of myself" little grin on a cute little girl!

Here is Aleah again, being the wonderful big sister that she is. I was doing the dishes one morning and went to check on the girls, and this is what I found. Too precious.
Sometimes Aleah comforts Kanani and holds her when Kanani bonks her head or something scares her, like the vacuum or when they turn the TV up really loud.
Oh, but Aleah does make sure to pick on her too, as does Kanani to Aleah.

Oh, I just have to mention one last thing, Matthew rescued me again(almost a year ago) and stayed home Thursday morning because I'm was feeling so hOrRiBlE! If I had a picture of that moment of relief, it would be me jumping off the couch, running to Matthew, after he came back through the door, throwing my arms around his neck, telling him that he was my hero, and then going to bed. Okay, so it's more like a series or pictures. MHR!!

GREAT NEWS!!!

Besides ear infections and pneumonia, we found out some giddy news. Matthew passed his test!!! YAY!!! We' re so proud of him. When I told Aleah that Daddy passed his test, she said,
"I knew him could do it! I knew it! I'm so proud of Daddy!!"
This little girl has been praying long before Daddy took his test, that he would pass. And now she's saying thanks.
One step closer to becoming a dentist and just one more nail-biting test to go.
Matthew we're so proud of you and thanks for all your hard work and sacrifice!

You're our Super Star!

Super Model

For FHE tonight, Aleah shared her talent of struttin' her stuff. She walked the runway tonight. We played some music while she walked down the hall and Matthew described the outfit, the designer and the model.
Really I wanted her to show Daddy the coat that I transformed from the "just too homemade looking" to "good enough to wear" category.
Before Christmas I found these cool vintage patterns at the thrift store for 50 cents each and I had started this coat for Aleah. I almost finished it and then put it on her. I took one look and said, "Oh, my poor homemade-ness. You cannot wear that thing." I was so bummed about it and all the time I spent on it. I didn't want to just throw it away so I decided to get it out today and tried my best to make it wearable. So keep in mind when you look at it, it looks better than it did. I have to put the lining in the sleeves still, but other than that, it's done! Yay! Now I can move on to my next project feeling like I can still sew something.

Saturday Fun

A couple of us ladies went down to Fabric Row in Philly. It was lots of fun! Good company and fabric, what's not to love?! There were some cool little shops and we got a few scraps. I know this is dorky, but looking at all the fabric is inspiring for the creative mind. My mind was going in a million different directions with ideas.

We had to stop for lunch and we had to "Get it BIG", obviously. We went to Pot Belly's. Some good sandwiches.

We were gone a lot longer than expected, but my rockin' husband didn't mind at all. He was just glad that I had fun. He's awesome! Here are a few pictures of the girls playing before a late dinner and bed time.

It was a GREAT day! Loved it!

My Husband Rocks!

( My husband rocks so much that he humors me and does a little photo shoot like this for my birthday!)

My sister joined this group that does a "My Husband Rocks" post every Friday. I've read a couple of hers and I thought that it was just so sweet. So I joined the group and now I get to brag every Friday. Really it's not so that you can brag about your husband, it's so that you can look, see and remember all the great things about your spouse and why you love them. This lady started it because marriage gets looked down upon sometimes, so this was her way to help people see what a blessing marriage is.

This week we were given a couple of different options:
1. Tell us about some of the things that you and your husband do to just have fun together!
2. Tell the story of a memory about your husband that brings you a smile and a giggle every time you think about it!
3. Give us your best, most creative Valentine's Day gifts (and yes, this one is a shameless way to use your creativity to help me come up with a Valentine's Day gift, lol!)

I would like to do #2, but the ones I can think of right off, Matthew would be way too embarrassed if I shared. They do bring a smile and a giggle though! Ha!

So moving on. I'll do Numero uno: Tell us about some of the things that you and your husband do to just have fun together!

Call us boring, but we talk politics and think it's fun. My husband has a paaaasaaasion for politics and I decided that I better be informed or I would go crazy listening to his crazy talk. Another thing that we like to do is read together. He doesn't enjoy that as much as I do. We both have a love for sports so we love to play basketball, volleyball, and most of all, softball. We love to watch college basketball, but only if we can actually watch it. We like listening to music and dancing. We like busting out our instruments and playing those. We like playing games and we often watch movies together and like just kicking back while we watch them.

So that's that. My husband rocks because he loves me and loves spending time with me and our girls.
I might have to come back and post one for #2, after I get my facts straight.

Cold, but not as cold as...

...my sister is Rexburg or anyone in Siberia.

A couple weeks ago, I pulled this case of water out of the trunk and it was frozen solid. Sweet!

Playing in the snow

Getting ready to bear the cold and play.

The girls were loving it. I pulled them around on a tarp while the just laid on their backs. It was hilarious. We had a good laugh and it was good fun! Sorry no picture, it's a little hard to take a picture while running and pulling a tarp, especially when you have big gloves on and you already dropped the camera in the snow.

cold pink cheeks

These girls were not happy that I made them come in the house.

This is Kanani nearing the end of her fit. A good fit can be enjoyable, so I thought I'd share.
