A Photo Experiment

Back in April, the girls and I went out to Cameron, MO and Nauvoo, IL, to celebrate 2 weddings. Alisha, my niece, and Nathanael needed some pictures taken so here are a few pictures I took. It was fun and definitely a learning experience. Hardly an amateur, but hey, it's documented.

Go VOTE please!!

I entered Project Toddler Runway and I made it to the top 15!!
It's going to be narrowed down to 10 and then those 10 get to compete in a different challenge each week. After each challenge, someone will be cut. But for now, I'm just trying to make the top 10!! That's where you come in. Can you go vote for the adorable girl in that stylin' wool jacket? Please! It takes just a moment because the poll is on the top right of her blog.

First craft fair

Before Maya was born, I made some easy burp cloths.
Soon after she was born, a friend asked if I wanted to join her table at a craft fair. I jumped on board and now I'm addicted! So I made a bunch of these burp cloths. The ones I made for the craft fair were much cuter and they came in sets of three. I also made some nursing covers and pacifier clips. It was fun and it went pretty well! Maybe I'll fit in 2 more before then end of the year...because we need more things to make this time of year busier:)

Baby cocoon

I asked my mom to make a little baby cocoon to take pics of the baby in. As soon as my mom finished it, we put Maya in it and she loved it. It kept her all swaddled up. She slept in it the next several nights. I think this is a funny picture. She looks like a little mummy.

dresser revamp for baby room

We bought this dresser from a thrift store and fixed it up for the baby room. We wanted to use the top for a changing table so we had to raise it up.

We added legs and some left over base board as a trim at the bottom of the dresser to help hide the ugliness. Plus it just made it look better anyway.

I know it's a purple dresser, but it really looks good in the baby room.

The progress made on the baby room

There's still more to be done, but this is the progress made thus far.

The room still needs finishing touches and I need to recover the glider. So more to come...if I ever finish.

Soon to be skirts

My work is cut out for me...ha ha!

I had to share

Since school is getting ready to start, I went through and cleaned out the girls' clothes this week to see what Aleah needed for school. I decided, since she loves skirts, to go through all my scrap fabric and make her skirts for the new school year. I made about 10 skirts on Monday and Tuesday. Some of them need a little something more, and then I'll share them. This particular skirt I thought looked a little homely, but I envisioned a whole outfit to try and help it out. Sometimes the vision doesn't turn out....but I really like how this one came together.
I made this little shrug today from and old t-shirt and her knee highs I made last winter. I think she looks stylin'!

She's such a funny poser!

Next project

This is the next project in the house. (even though there are still unfinished projects)
The baby"s room. Last week, we cleaned all the girls toys out of the baby room and moved them downstairs to the basement. We finally got our carpet redone in the basement so now we can start organizing things down there. After clearing out the toys I set up the crib and rocking chair. This is what the room looks like right now. It definitely needs some love.
Who knows when it'll be done. It's a small room. It shouldn't take too long. We have ideas for it, but not concrete plans.
Soon though.
I have a fabric line picked out, Dolce, by Tanya Whelan. The fabric looks much better in person. In fact, that's how I found it. Every time I see it online, it really doesn't look too cute, but I've seen it a few times in the fabric store, and I love it! We're pretty sure that's what we're going with. Now the idea is to go peaceful, light, breezy, whimsical and neat. Much like the girls bedroom. I just feel so happy when I go in to the girls' room that we wanted the baby's room to feel that way too.

So there it is.

close up of the quilt

This fabric was the inspiration for the girls room. I love their quilts. I still need to put the binding on. I feel like it's just been crazy busy, but it's on the list of things to do.

I made the quilt tops and had a friend, who has an awesome quilting machine, quilt the top for mw. She did a great job!
