Healthy girls

Yesterday, Nani had her 2 yr check up and today, Aleah had her 4 yr check up. Stats: Nani, 27.8 lbs. and 37 1/4 inches. Aleah, 35lbs. and 41 inches. Nani was born a big girl and still is. She's 50 percentile for weight and off the charts for height. The doc said it's better that way than the reverse. And Aleah, she was born medium size, I guess, and she still is. She is 50 percentile for weight and 75th for height. Consistent growth. Right now, the girls are tall and skinny, and most important, healthy!
(Tomorrow or Friday we'll do the immunizations. They don't give them at the doctor's office here. You have to go to the Health Department to get them.)

Chair #1

Yes, another project. I bought this chair at a garage sale for $2 with plans to recover it. This past Saturday we went to Wichita to buy fabric for it and some other projects. Today during Nani's nap time I covered it. I didn't really reupholster it because I just put fabric over it. I have another chair I bought for $1 that I plan to actually reupholster. I still have to put the back piece of fabric on and a few buttons on this one. (You can only get so much done during nap time.)

Small Town Folks

Hey everyone,
I live in a small town. It's really a lovely small town. Not as convenient as a big city, like, lets say, Philadelphia. Wherever you live, you get what you get . You can either take it or leave it. I'll gladly take it here.
Sincerely,
Still adjusting :)
p.s. I don't know how to shop online.........for anything!!

PrOjEcTs

I love having my own projects to do! Here's one that I finished on Sat.
I bought this bench at a garage sale for $20. I know a little on the expensive side for a garage sale. Because I had gotten so many other good deals I decided it was worth it. It was in great condition, it just didn't have a place in the owners new house.
Anyway, it was sort of an oak color and there was a broken mirror that went behind all the rectangles on top. When I saw it at the garage sale, I had a vision for it.
Believe it or not, it actually turned out just as I had imagined! Yay!
I painted it white, took out the mirror, and used a few scrapbooking skills to fill in the rectangles. The only thing I'm going to add, after I get some fabric, is a pad on the bench.
Projects are so fun, especially when they turn out just how you want! (Oh, I forgot to mention, it hides the ugly mess of scattered shoes that were all over the floor. They're in the bench now.)

(Sorry, no before picture. I couldn't find the camera charger. Trust me it looks better now!)

fun girly things

When I was a kid I knew that it was inevitable that I would be a mom someday. However, being quite the tom-boy, I was convinced I only wanted boys. Then when the time came, I honestly didn't care. And now, I have two beautiful little girls who are full of life. We love doing girly things together and all 3 of us embrace our femininity.

Happy Independence Day!

We had a really fun relaxing 4th. Matthew bbq-ed on his new grill, the kids played, we enjoyed being with family and friends and we saw some fireworks. And of course we felt very fortunate to be blessed to live in this country, blessed that The Lord prepared it for the restoration of the gospel, blessed to have people who serve our country and know what it is to be American and blessed to be able to pursue our happiness. God has blessed America....and continues to!

I just have to say, people go all out here with their fireworks. I mean hundreds to thousands of $$$ on these things. And they go on and on and on.

Aleah's birthday

(her cousins got her a yummy birthday cake)

(on the phone with Daddy)
Opening some presents.

Here are some pictures from Aleah's 4th birthday. On her actual birthday we were at her cousins' house in Missouri and we celebrated with them. Then the next Friday, when we were home we celebrated with Daddy.

She really wanted Candyland for her birthday so that's what she got. Her cousins were so nice and got her some fun little Polly pocket toys. (They got one for Nani too.) And with her birthday money she bought herself a big girl bike. Aleah says thank you to all who sent her birthday wishes!
