I had to make it!

Last night, when I should have been sleeping, I made this cute little skirt. MADE has a tutorial for these cute skirts, and lots of others. After seeing them, my mind was going crazy with ideas and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep. So I went to the fabric remnants, found some that would work, and went at it. It took about 2 and a half hours and it was lots of fun. It's not as cute as MADE, but today I got white fabric so I can make some more!

Temple trip.

Last Friday, Matthew and I drove down to Oklahoma City to go to the temple. We were planning to take the girls and we were going to make it little weekend family trip. During that week Grandma and Grandpa called and were making a trip up to see the dentist, so they offered to watch the girls for us. So we let them.
The Oklahoma City temple is beautiful, as all are. It was probably the smallest one we have been to, but just a special. It was our wards, along with another ward's, turn to clean the temple. So after the last session we got to clean it! I've never done that before. It was pretty cool.
Matthew and I had a fun date night walking around Bricktown and taking the water taxi down in the city. OK city has a river walk modeled after the river walk in San Antonio, TX. We had fun. I mean, we had a date weekend, what isn't fun about that?!
Oh, that last pic. is some friends in the ward who had a little car trouble on the way home. Since we know so much about cars, we stopped to see if someone needed Matthew to pull a tooth.

More of Grandpa's shirts

Grandpa, I bet you didn't know your old shirts were so cute.
You don't want them back do you?!

I finally busted it out!

I have been waiting to unpack my sewing machine until I had a place for it. I just couldn't wait any longer. The place for it, right now, is on the kitchen counter. Good enough for now!
Here's today's creation. Thanks Sha for the link to the tute. This is a summery sundress made from Grandpa's old button up shirt. Thanks for the shirts Grandpa!
And check her out, she's so fresh!

Crazy hair

After the girls' bath every night, we put their hair up in little "onion heads", a little bun on the top on their head. When I take it down some mornings, this it what the Nani looks like.
She's still so cute with crazy hair!

And voila. This is after I work my magic.

I found this, this morning on the floor in the basement. Thank goodness it was already dead. I didn't know that at the time that I had grabbed it. I had to move quickly, 1. so the girls didn't see it and 2. so the freak of a thing didn't get away. I couldn't imagine trying to catch this thing and it jumping at me and bitting my head off.
I used a baby doll diaper to grab it and I ran upstairs like the dickens, trying to figure out what I was going to do with this thing. (of course the thought popped into my mind, "take a picture so you can put it on the blog") I also wanted to save it for Matthew to see:) I put it in a cup and confirmed it was dead. When I first saw this thing, I seriously had to inspect it to even figure out that it was a honking spider. At first, I thought it was a toy. Then I thought what kind of toy is that. I got closer, and then a little closer and said to myself, in disbelief, NOT UH!! Than I looked for something to grab it with while trying to remain calm.
The mission was accomplished, because Aleah didn't have a clue and she just kept asking my why I said, "Oh my gosh" (We don't say that in our house, because when she repeats it, it sounds like she's taking the Lord's name in vain.)
Anyway, it makes my legs weak to think about and I was pretty jumpy going back down to the basement.
You know I'll be praying like crazy that nothing eats me and my family while we are sleeping tonight!
Here's another picture with the bottom of a glass next to it so you have a better idea of the size of this spidy. The picture is a little cropped, but there is no zoom used. Seriously nasty.
Why did these things come with the fall?

Happy Birthday Kanani!!

Our baby is 2! We had a great day celebrating. We stopped by Daddy's work so he could say Happy Birthday to his baby and we had fun playing at the office. Then, Nani loves to swing at the park so we had Happy Meals at the park and we played on the swings for about 45min. Then we visited some friends and then went to the swim park. That's another thing Nani absolutely loves, going swimming. After swimming, we came home, had dinner, cake and then presents. We had a good time and we're so thankful for Nani being in our family. She brings our family so much joy, laughter and happiness. We love you little Nani!
