My dear family and friends we love you! This is just a post to let you know that we really do love you, even though we don't or won't call and talk to you.
You see we live in a dungeon, with poor ceilings, with poor light and poor reception. We are poor so it suits us well and we're very happy!
But, because we don't have very good cell phone reception, and that being our only long distance capability, we very seldom call anyone, unless absolutely necessary. I can't stand talking on the phone if it keeps cutting in and out! You don't know what was said or what was heard.
When it does become necessary to call someone, I stand on the arm of the couch and lean to far end of the window ledge, where best reception is found. Or I sit on the window ledge. Sometimes I have to add a few other positions in there, depending on how long the conversation is. (Ask a neighbor, I'm sure they've seen me.)
I tell you, it is not comfortable and it does not make conversation enjoyable. Some of my solutions have been to go outside and talk, but now that it is winter, well that's worse than standing in the window. Or sometimes I call people when I'm out and about. This also is not the best solution either, considering I only go out to run errands with 2 children who already break my ability to concentrate while driving or whatever else. So adding a phone conversation on top of that, well, usually I have to get off the phone because the kids are yelling so then I yell at them to stop yelling.
Anyways, the best solution I have is to just stop talking to anyone that requires long distance. Love ya, keep ya, but what can I say?!
One day we won't live in a dungeon and one day we can leisurely afford both a cell phone and a long distance plan for our land line. So if you are dying to ever talk to us, you'll just have to call our land line or wait for us to move.

Maybe the next time I'm on the phone, I'll have Aleah take a picture.

Oh I remember those days... I used to have to do some creative positioning for calls at work, try balancing on a wiondowsill with a laptop and a cell phone. fun times.. It will all be over soon. just hang tight!!
You'll definitely have to take a picture. That's one I want to see :)
Awha poor you. But I agree with Dacia you'll have to get a picture of that. Would be good to see but also for your memories to see how it used to be. I love you even though we don't talk on the phone all the time.
That is so sad, but wonderfully written. I was planning on calling you soon, and I will make sure it is on your home line....though I always forget which number is which. I will figure it out. Hang in there...dungeon life won't last forever.
You are so funny Chelsea. That was well put and straight forward!
You are a pretty funny writer! This was great. I hope you're all doing well, even if we aren't talking ;)
Ah, the joys of being poor....
I loved your comment on the braces. it was SO worth waiting for. Miss you!
I remember those days. Your right your place was a little harder to hear people. Believe it or not, I would love to come back to your house, and just let the kids play everyday like we did before. I guess it was just having you around that I miss, not really the Colony. So for now will just call you. I guess it isn't just your place that you can't hear me!!! Call me back. I don't know what was going on with the phone that day! Love you all, and tell Matt good luck this week, were praying for him.
Ok that is a super funny and honest post and I totally appreciate your humor. You Miss Bels are a good writer you know that? Well we all love you and you are right, one day this problem will be resolved, until then we all still love you and thank goodness for blogging right??? It is the perfect telephone that is free and gets even better pictures and great storys as well!
